WCan a kid travel from U.S. to Canada with an expired passport?

even if the traveling agency says that all he needs besides his passport (expired or not) is a copy of his birth certificate?

how about when he needs to come back? it wount be by airplane, he's going on bus

Aan expired passport can be used for nothing...not even as a form of I.D.  Passports are not needed for LAND travel to and from Canada until June 1, 2009.   He will need his birth certificate.  If he is under 18 and travelling alone or with an adult not his parent, or with only one parent, he needs a letter of permission.  See site below.
