WDYT- family names??

Question

There are some interesting girls names in my family that i always wanted to use, but was not brave enough. i have 4 kids, and they all have family names, but i never used these (but secretly wanted to!)

just thought i'd run them by y'all and see what ya think. lol ~im bored! and it's raining~

So my Great Grandmother's name was (on mother's side):

Lessie Viola (pronounced Less-EE)

my MeeMaw's name is (dad's mother):

Thelma Idotha (pronounced eye-DOE-tha, but we all call her Dodie *Doe-tee*)

i am not that keen on Thelma (neither is she, so she goes by Dodie) but i have always loved the name Idotha.

likewise i am not that fond of Viola, but Lessie is so very cute!

what do you think about Lessie and Idotha?

Lessie Viola is really pretty.  Lessie sort of reminds me of a softer version of the nickname Lizzy

Thelma Idotha I'm not to fond of (but heck, your grandmother wasn't either)

I like Selma though.

Maybe Selma Ingrid, Selma Helen, Selma Magdalena, Selma Jo (all of those are sort old names too)

out of the four names the only one I like at all is Viola.

I really like Lessie. Idotha is ok, it sounds a bit old fashioned. Maybe Idatha. Her nickname could be Ida.

Sorry, I am not loving any of these names.  I think Lessie is cute for a little girl, but not a lawyer...not that you want your little one to be a lawyer, but it's just not professional.  Viola would probably turn into "Vi" which is cute and unique.  Viola is a lot for a kid though.  I just cant get into Thelma either...sorry

No offense but I don't really care for either of them. Lessie is cuter than Idotha though. I could imagine a little girl named Lessie but not Idotha. I do love the idea of naming children after family though. Two of my great-grandmothers were named Amelia and Sadie and I think they're both kind of cute and would sound nice on a little girl today.

Lessie no, She'll be called l***o and many other derogatory L*****n names.
