The fuel resources on earth r limited.....then do motor races contribute to this further? In every pit stop...abt 70 litres of fuel is filled...isn't it harmful for the fuel resources...they r depleting aren't they?

This is a survey for my project on energy crisis......please answer soon!!

  1. Well the Indy Racing League uses 100% ethanol for their cars. This is also research that Honda will be able to use in future cars.

  2. yes, I think the government should ban people from motor racing, like nascar races

  3. Sure, it's true that races are using fuel at what seems like an alarming rate, but what can we do?  Would we want the governments to mandate who can use fuel, how much we can use, decide whether our recreational driving isn't "necessary" or limit any of these things?  As much as I'm for less fuel usage (and I don't even drive a car, I ride bike!), I wouldn't be in favor of these types of decisions that would allow our governments to be in control of that much.  Once it's decided that motor races are too wasteful and using fuel solely for entertaining crowds and it's not going to continue, what's next?

  4. Petroleum deposits in the earth are being depleted.  The amounts reported cause alarm by the sheer size of the numbers, however, the petroleum reserves still buried are so enormous that we could continue to mine coal and extract oil for another 500 years or so without a shortfall----IF THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS WOULD LET US!

  5. This question has been asked and answered before.  The amount of fuel used in the race is significantly less than the amount of fuel used by the spectators to get there.  Just because fuel is used doesn't mean the sport is at fault, we are a fossil fuel based society ... EVERYTHING we do consumes oil.  We need to replace oil, not entertainment.

  6. yes dear u r right..

    its harmful...

  7. I don't see any crisis.  I just filled up my Viper and it took me all of ten minutes.  No lines, plenty of gasoline in the tanks.  I think I will fill up my Hummer today and I doubt it will be any different except I will have to drive a bit further to get to a service station that sells diesel oil.

  8. Less fuel is used in one of those races than the fuel used by those attending a college basketball game.

Also, nearly all of the fuel saving and safety inovations that we take for granted were developed on the racetrack.

    These inovations include:

    Fuel injection.

    Alternate fuels.

    Fuel management.

    Passenger restraint.

    Fire retardation.

    Pneumatic shocks and tires.

    Radial tires.

    Lubrication technology.

    Aerodynamic developments.

    Electronic ignition.

    Hydraulic breaks.

All of these things make automobiles more efficient and safer.  Competition at the racetrack accelerated these developments.  The fuel used by the racing industry is a small fraction of the fuel saved as a result of their contribution to technology.

  9. we have plenty of oil !!!

when we run out of that oil, we have this oil:

when we run out of that oil, we can make some:

there is so much oil it isn't even an issue.

just more lies put out by enviromentalists.

  10. good thought adn u are right

  11. When you consider the SAFETY improvements that come from auto racing, (like seat belts, crash absorbing front ends, etc.), and the small amount of fuel burned racing compared to the amount burned by everyday use, I think it is a good trade-off.

There are also engine, transmission, and tire improvements resulting from things learned by racing.

    It is also good entertainment!

  12. Nope, pretty sure it's not a crisis since the price is still pretty cheap when you consider other things we pay for.

  13. I believe that motor races are only a very small contributer to limited fuel...  Soccer moms, on the other hand, in their giant SUVs probably use far more fuel over the course of a racing season.  I promise you...there are far more soccer moms than their are race cars.

Race cars are an example of excess, you say?  So are huge SUVs...

  14. corn prices have soared over the past year as Congress pushes ethanol, made from corn. Fields that previously grew soybeans are now yielding corn, and that's driven up the price of soybeans as they become scarce

  15. Things are going electric. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BqqtJpfZElQ And there are several other better electric -vs- petrol car videos. It can't be stopped. The dinosurs will die.

Racing is certainly only prized by the lowest forms of intelligence, death junkies. They love it when their racers die, love it when soldiers die for fuel, love the dinosaurs that died and turned into a crude, limited source of future death.
