Question:

WEP Key Help (among other things -- a router)?

First off, this isn't my problem, this is my friends problem. Hopefully anyone who can help me can ease up, since were fifteen each. His family owns a Belkin Wireless G Router (search it on Belkin.com if you want), and the thing is, he says he lost is WEP key.

...I'm big into computers, but my trails run dead when it comes to this type of stuff, I want to help him out, since he cannot connect his PlayStation 3 to the internet, and I want him to experience the latest update. I need a step-by-step tutorial on what I need to do. We tried resetting (default settings, no WEP key needed), didn't work.

At one point, we found the WEP Key, and tried to enter it into the PS3, but I immedeately spotted the fact that even that we found the WEP Key, the connection was not connected. Is there a place to enter the WEP key in the computer? I simply don't understand. I have dealt with simply resetting my router at my house, and it being simply fine, but it doesn't work here.

Need help, step-by-step.

  1. Ok use this guidelines to put your wep manually.

Go to your wireless card and right click then go properties then choose wireless networks tap. Then choose add tap. You have to then make manully like wep, ssid and the channels you will use.

  2. Try connecting a computer by Cat5 cable to the Belkin router.

With that computer, you can access the router's settings.  It looks like a web page in Internet Explorer, and you should really refer to the Belkin manual for that address.

You can then set the WEP key to whatever else you want, or turn off WEP security, etc.
