  1. You will have a brilliant life. I lived in Australia for a year and I miss it so much.

    Lucky Girl

  2. I'm jealous.  Australia and Australians are both wonderful.  Have fun!

  3. Just be yourself, don't be shy,and don't brag how good america is.

  4. Just be yourself and you will find someone that will like you for that :D dont try to change to make friends

  5. I read your profile, but can't find anything weird about you ?

You are more normal than me, and many other people that I know !!

Don't worry about anything, you will be OK here.

Thousands of people move here every year, and the vast majority fit in very well.  If you want to fit in, and adapt to our way of life, then you will do just fine.

You don't say how old you are, but I can say from experience that most younger kids from overseas, fit it without any problems, especially at schools.

  6. Wow you sound one lucky person. It's always hard making new friends but give your self time and it will happen. No people won't think you are weird. We have many different cultures here. No need to be scared you are coming on an adventure and millions of people would love to be allowed to live here. Good luck.

  7. You should be fine.  Australia is one of the most multicultural countries on the planet.  People here are pretty used to hearing foreign accents and languages everywhere they go in their own country.  If anything they will find your background fascinating.  Australians love to travel and will likely be interested in the places you have been and what you have done.

A couple of things to be aware of when you come.   Australian culture is very egalitarian (everyone is equal).   So be yourself but avoid any ego trips or making other people feel small (which I am sure you don't).   Australians are famous for being very direct and telling it like it is.   Americans (and even our near neighbours) can find this quite confronting at first, but you will come realise that the average Aussie is an honest kind of person where you will always know where you stand with them.  Australians love a battler who keeps on trying despite impossible circumstance or trying times.  Keep this in mind should you feel an overwhelming urge to tell everyone you know how much better America is.   While Australians have no issues with the American people, you will likely hear some very pointed comments about their government.   Don't take these personally, they are not directed at you.  Typically Aussies will accept anyone at face value, and make their value judgments based on how you treat them over time.    Be friendly and you will likely find the favour returned equally.

As for weird - this is the country that defined weird.   Consider animals like Kangaroos, Platypus (is it a duck, a beaver or something else?), crazy Aussie humour and the strange and wonderful things that go on in this land and you won't feel left out at all.    Your best way to make friends is to just be yourself, be friendly and remember to have a funny or witty comeback when someone throws you a curveball. Relax, you will have a great time here.

  8. You'll be fine most Aussie's are really nice and friendly. Someone else said don't brag about how good America is thats true one thing us Aussie's don't like is to be made feel like we're being told we're not as good as someone else it sounds childish and probably is but its the way we are might have something to do with our Convict background. But you will be fine people will love to hear about Spain and the USA and your life story does sound interesting.

  9. What a wonderful opportunity to learn about a new culture and meet new friends!  People will think that you're a fascinating person and want very much to get to know you.  Don't worry about not fitting in because of your awesome background.  You'll do just fine.
