  1. Do you have a rain coat?

  2. You're mom will probably have to let the airline know that you are traveling alone. They don't ask anything when you leave. You will go through security where you remove your shoes, put them and all your carry ons in trays and they ex ray your stuff. You walk through a metal detector and collect your stuff. When you return you go through customs. They ask you if you have anything to declare and how long you were in the country you visited. They do stamp your passport at every stop. Just say your visiting a friend. Don't be nervous. There is nothing to be nervous about. Have a great trip!

This is exactly what will happen.

  3. I did my work experience at Gatwick immigration office (even though its not remotely a career im intrested in!) and spent alot of time at the red desk! Basically they are looking for people whos visa aren't correct, passport expired or are coming to england for a reason other than that they have stated. You will have a card to fill in on the plane, make sure you have done it present it to them they will read it and probably ask you a couple of questions about why you are here, where are you going, what do you plan to do while here, how long are you staying, how did you afford the ticket, are you in employment in your country etc etc, they will check your passport and visa, stamp and you are free to go! (normally they don't ask all those questions, they're just examples of types of common questions youll probs only get one or two!) I really can't see their being any problem as long as your paperwork is correct. Be friendly and confident, you'll be fine! enjoy your stay!

  4. No dont be worried theyll ask you how long your staying and what you are doing stuff like that dont be worried!!!

Bad part is there is a lot of security and it takes for ever to get through and the flight there is really long but they show movies at least there is some entertainment! And if you have a slip then your ok.I went to england by my self when i was 15 and i had a slip and i was ok! HOPE THIS HELPED

  5. Why are you so worried? Do you have a criminal record? Are you likely to?

If not, don't worry about it. Many countries, such as the US, Canada, the UK and Japan have agreements where people can travel freely as tourists for 3 months, and get extensions for 3 additional months. You should worry more about the airports asking if you have left your bag around or if anyone spoke to you.

The questions they ask in the immigration line are "why are you here?" you will answer, "visiting my friend, and sightseeing." Nobody minds polite tourists because they bring free money into a country. You're not going to England to start a business or to become a citizen, right?

  6. Where are you going... what are you doing... *stamp*... have a nice day...

  7. RELAXXXXXXXXX. BUT YOU COULD JUST SAY YOU ARE STAYING WITH A FRIEND IF YOU WANT TO. HE IS YOUR FRIEND IT IS TRUE.

RE YOUR ADDITIONAL NOTES IN YOUR QUESTION. NO THEY WON'T ASSUME YOUR BF IS YOUR FIANCE AT YOUR AGE. IT WOULDN'T MATTER ANYWAY. ARE YOU FROM A CULTURAL BACKGROUND WHERE FAMILIES ARRANGE MARRIAGES FOR THEIR CHILDREN AT A YOUNG AGE? IS THIS WHY YOU ARE WORRIED? I DON'T THINK YOU ARE OR YOUR PARENTS WOULDN'T SEND YOU ALONE WITHOUT A CHAPERONE. ORDINARY US KIDS GOING THROUGH THEY WOULDN'T GIVE IT A THOUGHT. RELAX, ENJOY.

They often don't ask you anything. They may ask you though.

Where will you be staying while you are in England?

How do you intend to support yourself while you are here? I've brought travelers checks and this much money. My parents will send me more if I need it.  Here is a letter from the people I will be staying with saying  they will support me if I have any money problems.

Do you intend to work in the UK (United Kingdom)? NO.

What do you intend to do while you are here? Hang out with my friend and his family at their house and do some sight seeing.

How much money do you have with you for your stay?

Because you are only 16 they may want to know how you are getting to where you are staying and/or is there someone here to meet you? How is that person going to contact you to meet you?

The main things they will be worried about are that you are a genuine short term visitor, able to support yourself and have no intention of working in the United Kingdom (also called Britain - which is made up of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland).

The main thing is to have truthful answers to these questions then you won't need to feel nervous.

Have you checked what sort of visa you need for the UK?

Have you really enough money in travelers checks or English Currency for your stay? Sometimes it is possible to open a bank account in the UK before you arrive for your parents to transfer money to but I don't know if this is possible at your age and from the US.

It may help you to have a letter from the people you are staying with in theUK saying they are willing to support you while you are in the UK if you have any money needs. Have their address and contact details handy so immigration can contact them to verify things.  These are just extra precautions but I am sure everything will be ok. People travel to the UK everyday with no hassle. They just don't want the bad guys.

Have you arranged travel insurance? The UK won't care about this but it is a good idea to have it.
