  1. Invisible Man!

No worries I'm 14 and I feel your pain. I've tried Moby d**k and I think it's dreadfully boring! Well Huckleberry Finn is good, the story is too classic and I'm sure everyone will want to pick that one....You could too if you wanted something really easy. Mark twain is widely known for good work. (I should know he's one of my favorite!)

And to be honest I've never heard of King Lear so I'm not going to recommend it....simply because I can't judge a book by it's cover

    (Or name)

    Best of luck.

  2. Invisible Man. It is fully captivating and is easy to understand.

    Moby d**k would be next.

    Good Luck!

  3. Huck Finn is easier to interpret, but Moby d**k is so rich & complex. Actually, the are all good, but choose one that isn't "over your head" or makes the task too difficult. IMO - Huckleberry Finn is the best! Good luck!

  4. moby d**k is a classic

  5. I would say Huck Finn or Invisible Man. Those are both good choices.

  6. Definately Invisible Man. Moby d**k=vomit; Huckleberry Finn-I read that Junior year, and while it wasn't hard to comprehend (it might be if you're not southern tho-not to say we actually talk like that anymore :P) I found it dead boring. Seriously. I had to fail the test because it was so boring.

King Lear-ick! Shakespeare! He's always tough to understand. Yeah, I'd go with the Invisible Man.

But I hear Sparknotes has a great Shakespeare section...King Lear's kind of long though, isn't it? So, yeah, Invisible Man is the best choice.

  7. The play "King Lear" would be easiest.  Just get a DVD of the play (they probably have it at your local library) and watch it.  You really don't even need to read the text, but you can if you want.  Shakespeare meant his plays to be viewed and would be astonished that anyone would be reading the actor's notes and stage directions.

Edit:  By the way, there's two books titled "The Invisible Man".  One is the novella by H.G. Wells.  It's a science-fiction book about someone who is literally invisible.   The other is the novel by Ralph Ellison.  It's a description of life for black people in 1930's America.   The central idea of it is that white people don't see him, recognize him, or know anything about him.  He's "invisible".  This is a pretty dense book and aobut 600 pages long.  If that's the one on the reading list, I suggest you put off reading it for a few years.  It's a great book, but it will take a lot of long and hard work to get through it.

  8. I really enjoyed King Lear, although it may be a little difficult if you've never read Shakespeare before.  It's a little awkward reading a play the first time.

  9. King Lear was my favorite. Easy to understand if you get shakespeare

  10. i personally think Moby d**k was very interesting. However, i have never read the other 3.

  11. Go with the invisible man. Wells' style of writing is much easier to read than the others, shorter story and the its is interesting and pretty easy to interprut.

    Hope you like it.

    Good luck
