WHAT CLIP WOULD YOU USE ON A DRESAGE HORSE?

I am at college and doing an assignment on clipping and trimming and really need to know so someone plz help me xx

  1. dressage is completely unnatural!  dressing up animals and having them prance around for our own thrills? poor things


  2. Again it depends on the level of work the horse is doing.  As I explained in my answer to your question on showjumpers: the more work they do, the more hair you need to remove!

    A horse in hard work will sweat quite heavily and a thick winter coat will prevent the horse from drying off quickly and may result in the horse catching a chill.

    I'd probably give a dressage horse in regular, hard work a full clip as it looks tidier.  But as a result the horse would need to be well-rugged up at night and if turned out in a field.

  3. The clip would be relevant for the country you live in...the breed of horse...the level of work they are doing.

    In Australia many dressage horses are of warmblood and thoroughbred breeding.  The climate is generally warm enough not to have to clip, especially if stabled and rugged.

    Thoroughbreds have fairly fine coats also.
