  1. people with money had microwaves since the first ones, called Radar ranges were introduced in the '50's and sold for about $2000  Amana came out with one for about $450 and that was in the mid 60's so people in the 50's used basicly the same thing we use now, just updated.  Like the cars then and now, same but different.  you make it sound the folks in the 50's were still hunched over a fire cooking a chunk of meat on a stick.

  2. a furnace and pans?

p.s. they did have ovens in the 1950ies, they had ovens in the 1650ies.

  3.   they didnt have micro-waves, but they had cast iron pans and boilers they used wood stoves for heat and had to use lard instead of Pam spray.   I think they had crock pots but dont remember that far back.

  4. Hey, Don't make fun of us older folk.  We had electric and gas stoves.  Hey even elect. waffle irons, toasters, frying pans and such.  We had 57 Chevy's  !!!

  5. Microwaves came out in the 70's so they did not have them.

I know toasters have been around for a lot longer but not sure when they first came out. The ones from 100 years ago weren't much like they have today but the 50's version was similar.

They definitely had ovens and stoves. Gas was more popular, I think, at the time. They did have electric also
