I think it is a deal that the Red Sox had to do! In the long run the team will be better off without that wingnut disturbing the clubhouse. Many people are saying the Sox were robbed in that trade, but Jason Bay is a solid hitter, and offers more in left field than Manny Ramirez ever would. The Red Sox are a team all about chemistry as they proved in '04 when they traded Mr. Red Sox Nomar Garciappara because he was a cancer in the clubhouse, much like Manny has been for much of his career in Boston. The Sox will be fine, the Dodgers got the big bat that they needed to help them win the pathetic NL West, and the Pirates got some talented young players to help them rebuild. I think this was a good trade for all teams involved!!!

You're a bit late there, buddy.

But I think it's a good thing.

Manny didn't want to be there, the team didn't want him to be there, the front office didn't want him to be there.

So the only logical thing for him was to leave.

Now the Dodgers have a great hitter in the middle of their line-up and the Red Sox get a consistent player that can hit for power, runs out ground balls, and doesn't roll around on top of the ball.

Dodgers gave up a future lifetime backup 3rd baseman and a single A pitcher who's alreadly had Tommy John surgery for a 3 month rental of the best RH hitter in the game today.  And the Red Sox are paying his salary.  So the Dodgers made out pretty good.

Great trade. Would you want to have a cab driver who took time off during the middle of your ride? Would you want someone who is great at cutting hair to cut half your head. Manny is great but I don't think giving half effort is what the Sox paid for. They got a very good player who will be able to gel with his teammates and he's a lot younger and not a headcase.

Red Sox were rushed into a deal due to Manny's pressure and basically gave him away.  Jason Bay is good but he's not Manny good.  It might cost the Red Sox the postseason down this stretch.
