Russians will have its soldiers dead. Georgians will pretend Russia was an agressor. Georgia will hate all Russian. Russia will have a worse reputation. Next time some else will attact Russia and then nobody will help Russia, everybody will think Russia started it again

my best guess is as follows.  first, georgians will be kicked out of ossetia.  russia may also try to inflict damage on their military beyond the conflict zone (like bombing air fields, military bases, etc.).  then it will be a ceasefire b/c russia has no real reasons to go further into georgia itself.  then the south ossetia will be declared a protected territory.  russian troops will stay there for protection of ossetian people.  there are several problems to this scenario.  still it seems to be the most likely one.

Such result will allow Russia do whatever they want. If you think they are super bad, but they aren't. And there is no chance to change your mind, they can act bad at real. If you already told that Russia killed a lot of georgians,  which is total lie, and all agree with you - russian troops can kill them at real, and nothing will change. So, I'm warning western countries media, you'd better shut up. Lies can do it only worse.

Russia will take over Georgia (good on them - Georgia started it) or more likely the regions in conflict and Georgia will lose all the so-called West will do is release harsh statements because really they can't do much else and Russia will do entirely as it feels fit. Georgia was stupid enough to mess with them.

The war in the North Caucasus (Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, etc.) will start all over again, as Georgia will help Chechen rebels fight Russians again.

Russia is backing the Ossetians much in the same way NATO backed the Albanians in KOSOVO ultimately which led to the separation of KOSOVO which the RUSSIANs say is not legitimate. They will have egg on their faces now if they are doing just the same thing in Ossetia which will lose them the moral high ground (if they really had earned any recently).  Not sure the West will do much other than words, after all facing the Russian Army is hardly the same as bashing SERBIA.

This is a soviet conflict and it will be sorted out the soviet way, push back the invaders, get revenge for the killing of your people and soldiers, then create a buffer zone and finaly peace! JUST LIKE IN THE DAYS OF THE SOVIET UNION, EXCEPT THEN THE BUFFER ZONE WAS TO KEEP OUT FUTURE  n**i INVADEING THUGS! NAPOLEAN WAS THAWRTED, THEN GEMRANY IN FIRST WORLD WAR, THEN AGAIN WITH ADOLF HITLER IN WORLD WAR 2.
