WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS CHANGE IN BASEBALL???

Ok...We all know Instant Replay has just been approved in baseball. But there are also rumors amongst broadcasters and around MLB that they want to do another change in the game.

They want to Wire Up the Catchers with Ear Pieces so they can hear the Pitches there coaches want them to call out. Instead of using signs between the coach and catcher and having to look into the Dug out for each pitch and then relay it back to there pitcher, they want to communicate with a headset. Kinda like in NFL between a QB and his coach. There reason for this is because that way the game will be faster and fans dont have to sit around for 3 hrs each game, and it keeps the opposing team from reading the sign.

What do you think? Would this work, or would it just be completely distortioning the game and loosing respect for it just cuz some fans dont want to sit around for 3 hrs????

  1. I think it is an ok idea. I mean it isn't all that great because those things will cost money. I like to think of baseball as the old fashion, all-american sport. This is more high tech but you can't see it. I also don't think it will speed up the game that much, maybe a half an hour. I think it will work, but you also have wires and there could be faults, which would slow up the game. If they work out all the kincks before they use it, it should work. Also if the fans don't want to sit around for 3 hours, they aren't real fans.

  2. Wouldnt you still have to worry about people reading lips? No matter how advanced you get cheaters will always find a way. How can you make sure they cant find out what frequency you are on & listen in to what your pitch calls would be? Also where would you put an ear piece? All in the name of saving time...colision at home plate & the piece becomes damaged, then it could take 20 minutes to get a new working ear piece, what if it dosent fit the catchers ear right? I dont know about that one really!
