  1. They have banned smoking 30 feet from any business, including the inside of them.  I'm sick of the non smoker whinos.

  2. A lot of people don't like fish hatchery fish especially commercial fishermen. There is a big danger of messing up the natural gene pool of the wild fish.  At least if you are talking about salmon, which live in the ocean, till they spawn and die in fresh water.

    And of course it competes with the fishermen who are having a hard enough time for the most part.

    Lets see;

    they have saved the San Francisco Bay area coastland from development leaving a wild and scenic area just ajacent to the city.

    They have made progress cleaning up the bay

    and saved much of the wildlife from extinction

    They have kept the fish stocks from being depleted to nothing.  And thats coming from a former commercial fisherman.

    I don't suppose there's enough room here to list it all.

    Hey sometimes environmentalists have stupid ideas too.  Like when they didn't want the shipping channels dredged deeper in SF bay because it would stir up to much sediment full of toxins. The bottom of the bay is full of toxins, especially from gold mining which released lots of mercury, and from a mercury mine near San Jose at the south end of the bay.  And then there's the oil refinery leakage and spills.  So I can see their point, but the danger of a ship going off the channel or running aground are potentially worse if there's an oil spill.  The channel got dredged.

    Anti environmentalists sieze on things like this and repeat them over and over again as proof that we're wrong about everything else.

    I often hear people say things like   "it's ok to save the environment but there has to be some balance with economic interests".

    I agree, but I believe that the balance still weighs heavily against the environment.  That's where the power is.   We've made some changes but we haven't changed fundamentally.

  3. they have only fixed what morons don't want to think about,  I guess it is easier to blame the environmentalist that the companies that try to s***w you and do not want to pay for the true cost of their product
