  1. I'm sure the JW are decent people at heart.  I think their religion is mixed up, but not more so than any other religious group.  I like that they do not mix much with the government.  I think it's sad their kids can't participate in a lot of the fun activities that happen in public schools.

I REALLY dislike the door-to-door thing....

  2. I would be worried.

It would be like the National Guard, not guarding any more.

Or the Federal Reserve, no longer protecting the money supply.

And I would have to find something new to do on the weekends. :)

  4. I personally believe that Jehova Witnesses beliefs are incorrect. I don't care if they go door to door or to the supermarket, they still don't follow what the bible says.

  5. Christianity is an orthodoxy, not an orthopraxy. It doesn't matter how Good someone is, if their beliefs are wrong, they are wrong. There is no negotiation on this point. The beliefs should lead to correct action.

Personally, I find JW's problematic because of the lack of research done upon their part. I have studied NT Greek and have had JW misquote and misunderstand Greek Grammar. Moreover, I have had disinformation about the Church fathers (pre-Nicaea) told to me by JWs. Really nice people, I still pray for them and love them, even if I do disagree with their beliefs.

  6. Door-to-door isn't the problem.

Matthew 7:15-23 fits the description of Jehovah's Witnesses to a "T."

The faith has a track record of false prophecies, AND of altering the Word of God to suit their own doctrine.

BIG no-no's in the scriptures themselves.

  7. I respect them for living the life and walking the walk, even if I dont always agree with specific doctrines.

  8. I don't know any. They haven't been knocking on our doors. I know they're against blood transfusions though.

  9. Proselytizing is an affront to all that is holy. They don't just do it at people's houses, but at funerals and train stations.

They are different from Fred Phelps how?

  10. well my b/f grew up in a JW family and there are some things i don't like about them. the main thing is they only want their children to hang out with other JW children. the second is they do not allow their kids to participate on school sports teams. so when my b/f was a teenager instead of being on the school basketball team like he really wanted to he did drugs with all the other JW boys. not saying all JW teens turn to drugs but his mother does openly regret not letting them participate in these school activities. he was not baptized JW and does not practice or considered himself one.

  11. Misinformed

  12. There is no need to yell dear, it's not befitting of a jehovah witless.

  13. Well the reason they go door to door is because God said to go out and spread the good news and Jesus walked amongst the people doing just this.

I was studying for a while and I learned far more about God and religion studying with them than I did going when I attended churche.  It is all   about what the Bible & God says.  Everything is dignified.  Their is no selling of dinners or anything else in the Kingdom Hall. No plate is passed around for donations during the meeting.

While some man made traditions are sentimentally sweet, none of them are in the bible, for example, a huge misconception is the fact that Jesus birthday is on December 25th.  No where in a bible will you be able to find a verse saying this is so.

I remember asking what is wrong with receiving life saving blood during  surgery and I was shown a verse in bible where it was stated very simply that God said not to take blood and it simply comes down to just that...because God said so.

What sticks out in my mind is whenever I asked a question the response was almost always, well lets see what the bible says about that.  Their talks are given without a whole lot of flamboyouancy and minstrations.

Their dedication to Jehovah is very serious and you have to be strong moral character to devote yourself in this manner.
