WHAT IS A SOLENOID? ?

I was told I need a EGR valve modulator, I found one online but it was referred as a EGR vaccum modulator Solenoid. Thanks.

  1. Some EGR's are actuated by a linear motor.  Some are actuated by vacuum.  A solenoid is a type of electrical actuator.

    It's an engineering term.

    The vacuum solenoid opens and closes to allow vacuum to open and close the EGR valve.

    Was the check engine light on with a code P0401 (EGR low flow detected)?

  5. egr valve is part of the emissions. it bolts up on top of the engine and pulls fumes out of the engine and burns them over again.
