  1. Charter schools are publicly funded elementary or secondary schools in the United States which have been freed from some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools, in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results, which are set forth in each school's charter.

  2. it's like a public school, only with their own set of rules, can be from k-12. not to mention you'd more than likely have to wear those dreaded uniforms. and they're not just for big cities. stay in school kid

  3. A charter school is, cynically speaking, an attempt to fix the problems of public education by creating a fractured system of independent schools, often run for profit or by amateurs, that are not held to the same standards of accountability or laws that traditional public schools must follow.

Usually, charter schools are found only in big cities in more populous states where Republicans were elected.

Testing has shown that charter schools perform no better than the public schools they were supposed to challenge.

Based on the quality of the writing in your question, I'd recommend that you don't worry about how you can quit attending school; rather, apply yourself harder wherever you are.

  4. A charter school is a school, like the other answerers said.  Some of them run independent study programs and some don't, and a lot of states don't even have Charter schools.

If you want to work at home that is either homeschooling, Public School at Home (like K12), or private on-line schools.

I prefer the homeschooling option, but if you want to look at the others too, check out these links:

Public School at home (may or may not be available where you live, but look here to find out):

Private on-line ( or correspondence) schools:

  5. A charter school is usually financed w/ public money, yet employs different teaching or rules than the rest of the school in its school district.

You're looking for a correspondance school, where you do work at home and email it back in.

I can't tell if you need more challenging classes, or if you hate school because of social issues (or maybe you just want to sleep in).  In the first 2 cases, you should talk to a trusted adult - your parents or a teacher or counselor.

  6. I would suggest that you find a private umbrella or online school.

A charter school is a public school that has a charter with either the state or the local school district which allows them to offer an alternate education program. Usually the charter involves a program in which some or all aspects divert from the state's mandated curriculum.

Charter schools often try to present themselves as private schools that get public funding. They are not private schools at all. They are public and as such fall under the laws and court rulings made for public schools.

This includes the supreme court ruling that parents have no right to control any aspect of the public school curriculum nor to exclude their enrolled child from any aspect of that curriculum, including s*x education. If a school chooses to mandate that all students participate in all curricular activites than the parent's only legal recourse is to withdraw their child from the school and provide a private or homeschool education.
