  1. The two battery packs you are talking about are of the same series, but are slightly different models. The NP-FM50 has a larger charge capacity than the NP-FM30, therefore you could get more hours of footage with the FM50. Both these models however, are Sony infoLithium "M" series batteries, so BOTH will work with any Sony camcorder that takes "M" series batteries, the NP-FM30 is just the older version, therefore it is a bit cheaper. Be sure to determine if your camcorder does take the "M" series batteries and EITHER will work. Hope that helps!
