As far as paid antivirus programs Nod32 is very high in the ranks.  Only ones in the area around Nod32 are Kaspersky and Norton.  So I'd stick with Nod32.

Spyware Doctor is no doubt the best of the antispyware, with Malwarebytes' coming in a close second or third.  Also check out the active protection because although these programs are great for removing, the active protection is much more effective and uses less system resources.

I would recommend that you use AVG free edition as your anti-virus software.The anti-spyware that you have right now is very powerful.I also use Spyware Doctor.

Most malwares are designed to attack popular

antivirus products (like Symantec, Norton), but since free anti-virus product is much less used, it's capable of fighting the viruses when industry leaders fail.

Symantec/Norton are responsible for BSOD ( Blue Screen Of Death )

I would suggest that you get Avast Home Edition version 4,

which is free for personal use.

Avast is a very effective and free anti-virus program because it can do

a boot time scan in safe mode and it will remove the entire virus on your PC.

Even those viruses that hide inside the system restore folder.

Windows utilize a restore utility that backs up selected files

automatically to the System volume information /System Restore folder.

This means that an infected file could be stored there as a backup file,

and most anti-virus programs will be unable to delete these files. You

must disable the System Restore Utility to remove the infected files

from the folder if you use another brand of anti-virus. However, you do

not need to do so if you use Avast to do a boot up scan in safe mode.

Avira free for home personal use from Germany has a very high rate of detection of about 97.6%.  Higher then the purchased version of Kaspeersky Russia.  And you get auto. updates.  http://www.free-av.com/

Avast free for home personal use, has background scanner, root kit detecter and auto updates that advises you with a voice if you have your pc speakers on.  Plus chimes, when your scan ends.

Both are very low on RAM and CPU.
