  1. People hate Norton for a good reason. It's huge, cumbersome and too expensive and when it comes to updates it's hopeless, There are many freebies that do the job just fine namely AVG free, Avast, Avira and others at Download, com

  2. If you want free antivirus, I would suggest Avast! If you're willing to pay, I hear McAffee is good. Well, that or Norton.

  3. The top rated Antivirus/Spyware suite by those who test antivirus programs (av-comparitives, virus.gr, etc) is Kaspersky

(I have used this to clean up machines that nothing else would work on.

download a 30 day free trial here.

After cleaning up your computer I suggest buying it (I’ve seen it on Amazon for under $30), if you can’t afford it then These  free tools will help you keep your computer clean ~ Patrick

great removal tool for the vundo Trojan and rogue application xp antivirus 2008

Note Stay away from Nortons, not only does it have low detection rates it will also slow your system to a crawl.

Stay away from AVG as it also has low detection rates.

  4. Use threatfire...

Because normal anti-virus products usually need to have first identified and seen a threat before they can provide adequate protection against it. The protection is then provided via a signature or fingerprint update, which must first be written by an anti virus researcher.

Whereas, ThreatFire continually protects your PC against attacks by detecting malicious behavior, such as capturing your keystrokes or stealing your data, instead of only looking for known threats like normal anti virus software.

It's free and is way faster than any other anti virus soft-wares.

It also leaves a very small imprint on the memory...

    Otherwise ESET NOD32

Its fast, reliable, and with pro-active threat scanning.

  5. Honestly, I think any anti virus works well.  Some people will rant and rave about different companies and different versions, but in reality almost all of them work the same.

It also depends on how well your computer handles, what your computer is used for, etc --

What do I use?  Norton.  Most people hate it for some reason, but I've never had problems with it.

  6. I use AVG Free 8.0 (a free download) and my computer is 100% clean. I do virus checks about once a week, and since getting this have had no viruses at all, can't get much better than that...

  7. please review this top 10 antivirus list

  8. bit defender or kaspersky are the top 2,but they slow my pc down on boot up,its personal preference really, how ur pc runs with the anti virus u choose,if ur careful u wont get a virus with whatever 1 u choose, have a look at this http://anti-virus-software-review.topten...
