  1. Firstly, that is a very vague question. You need to factor in price range, purpose of vehicle and personal choice. Safe cars in modern society have active (to avoid crashing) safety features like ABS (antilock brakes), traction control, EBD(electronic brakeforce distribution) and ESP(electronic stability control). Passive (crashing) safety features should include airbags (the more the better), anti submarining seats,  lap sash seatbelts and head restraints for all passengers. The luxury manufacturers are not necessarily the safest. look at the IIHS and NCAP websites for information on some cars. Those websites are not affiliated with manufacturers so their ratings are not biased.


  2. The Mercedes will be the safest and it is safer than a Volvo..............

  3. The safest car is the one with no driver. I think you'd have to consult Consumer reports or some such magazine, but I've always heard the Volvo gets high marks.
