  1. i wouldnt put a swingset on concrete at all. unless your kids are wearing helmets at playtime. There will be very little you can put on top to absorb all the impact.either rip up enough concrete to put in aswing set or go to the park.

  2. Are you planning to remove any concrete for the swingset?  If so, playsand is very economical.  If you are not planning to remove the concrete, I'd look into a thick (minimum 7/8") rubber mat.  These are not cheap, but they will soften the blow if a child falls off.  Hope this helps.

  3. We just put rubber mulch in our landscape.  Our neighbor loved it and put it in their daughter's play area, and it is working quite well.  We purchased it by the bag at Home Depot, but later learned some nursery's and Co-Ops have it available by the truck load, which would give your more for the money.

They have a similar product on the playgrounds at our local waterfront park.  I am not certain of the cost, but I have provided the websites below, for a good place to start.  The floorscore product, below, would likely be a better choice, due to the cement in your yard.  I would think the mulch would be difficult to cover with!  Good luck!

  4. Maybe a good thickness of sand. You'll have to keep it swept back up under the swing set and hope the neighbor's cat doesn't use it for a litter box.

  5. In Australia, a product called Softfall is used under school & playground equipment. It is a chipped bark type thing.

  6. Use the material that schools are using on their playgrounds now & families are using to insure safety to their little ones. Cost shouldn't matter when it comes to the safety of your children. Can you remove the cement where the swingset will go, then add this rubberized material that looks like mulch? (can't think of the name of it but Lowes would know or a school principal could tell you)

  7. how about that foam thing. they arent too expensive and are very safe.

its that thing made of foam that looks like a puzzle and is a black color

  8. The safest choice would be playground tiles, which are tiles made purely out of recycled rubber.  Pricing varies depending on company, thickness, color, and sizes needed. Here are a few companies that manufacture playground tiles. (You could use rubber mulch instead but then you have to figure out a way to maintain the mulch in a certain area and at a certain level to prevent your children from scraping against the concrete.)
