  1. Being a son of an OFW, I can feel the loneliness inside my parents' hearts. They take their vacation here in the Philippines every summer. But for some instances, they can't go here.

  2. some days it feels great, being the hero of the philippines.

some days it feels bad,  being unappreciated.

  3. Just imagine being happy and lonely, at the same time, everyday. You're physically here, but your mind is there, back home. You're always thinking and wondering what they're doing right now? what they're eating? who's telling them jokes? are they laughing, or are they crying? who's mending the fuse, changing the light bulbs, and other stuff like that.

But we have to set aside these feelings. We're working not for ourselves only. We're pursuing not only our dreams, but our family's too. Especially our children. Like I have said before, it is like a bitter pill or medicine that we have to take to makes us well. And if we're helping the country, well, that's great. Two birds were shot.

  4. There is a feeling of HOPE that our lives be better.

UNCERTAINTY because we don't know what the future will bring.

LONELINESS for being away from the people we love.

  5. I've been screwed!

    Lemme outa here!

A song for all my kind, overseas Filipinos.  From Ryan Cayabyab's "Paraisong Parisukat".

    Narito kang tumatangis

    Sa iyong munting paraiso

    Pagmasdan mo paligid nito

    Inaamag, inaagiw...

(Here you are drowned in your own tears

    In your own tiny paradise

Take a look all over the place

It's all cobwebbed, rot the room wears...)

  6. There is no special or  different kind  of "feeling" to separate the OFWs from those who are not. For me, it is just a relief that I found a job that I  enjoy doing and at the same time able to support myself and those who are depending on me. The  only plus factor is that,  I am in another country, I am working and living  with people whose  culture and customs are different from my own. I get to see first hand information on how   people at the other side of the globe lives. I feel happy where I am. But of course,  there is this feeling of uncertainly about the future. Fears about government instability/ unstable economy and other issues.  If  my host country suffers economic setback, the foreigners like me, would be the first  one to get affected. I could be packing my suitcase without a month's notice.

  7. I think that it would be loneliness, being away from friends and family.
