I KNOW IN THE BACKSEAT......BUT ONE OF THE SIDES OR IN THE MIDDLE?

  1. Wherever the car seat installs the best, if you get a crappy install in the middle but a rock solid, non moving install outboard, then your child is safer outboard.

    Please be sure to get your car seat checked by a certified child passenger safety technician (aka car seat tech) to ensure that you are using the car seat properly and have your child as safe as possible :-)

  2. The safest place to install the seat is where it installs best (with less than 1" of movement in any direction). If it installs equally well in all 3 back positions, then middle is safer b/c it provides more side impact protection. Just check your manual, in most vehicles you can not use LATCH in the middle position. You can install in the middle using the seatbelt however, and its just as safe as LATCH.
