WHAT IS THE SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION OF BLEACH AND TOPICAL HYDROPEROXIDE MIXED TOGETHER

OK EARLIER I MIXED THESE CHEMICAL TOGETHER. IT FIZZED THEN NOTHING. OTHER THAN IT BLEACHED THE SINK QUITE WELL. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEND.

  1. The chemical reaction that occurred simply evolved Oxygen (

    O2) from the two, fairly weak solutions. Bleach is Sodium Hyphochlorite, NaClO. NaClO wants to decompose and turn into aqueous saltwater, releasing and Oxygen atom. Hydrogen Peroxide is H2O2, an unstable compound that wants to release an Oxygen atom and turn into water. The two react and produce molecular Oxygen, O2.

    Atomic and molecular Oxygen are good bleaching compounds and would be good cleaning agents.
