For the year of manufacture you should contact Frigidaire customer service with the seriel and model number.  The user manual is dated 2001 but it does not have an energy star logo on it.  However, on page 2 there are energy savings operating tips.

It's okay to store it in an unheated garage and you could also use it there since the user manual states:  "The freezer should be located where surrounding temperatures will not exceed 110°F (43°C). Temperatures of 32°F (0°C) and below will NOT affect freezer operation".  

IF YOU ARE STORING IT, BE SURE TO REMOVE THE DOOR.  THIS MAY PREVENT SUFFOCATION IF A CHILD CRAWLS INSIDE TO PLAY OR HIDE.

You can keep it in the garage.  If the garage gets hot in the summer, it will have to work harder to stay cold.
