WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!??

Hello

I am 24 years old and am very irregular. Since March, my cycles have been:

March 1 - May 5

May 5 - June 18

June 18 - still no menses

I have taken several home pregnancy tests, all of which came back negative. I went to my OB/GYN to have a blood test and check up done, and my results came in today as being negative for pregnancy and my LH and FSH are well within normal limits.

My doctor wants me to have a pelvic ultrasound done on in 2 days to see if I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I researched some of the symptoms of PCOS and I don't have any of them, other than the irregular cycles. I know that I am ovulating, because around the week of the 20th of July (not sure exactly what day it was) I took an ovulation predictor test and it said I would be ovulating within 24-48 hours.

My symptoms include:

Nausea (with no vomiting)

headaches (they have been constant for about 2 weeks)

Constipation

Gassy

Frequent urination (about once every hour)

Fatigue

Mood Swings

cramping (and general discomfort in my belly)

Loss of appetite

Swollen b*****s (they do not hurt)

Back pain

Could it be that because of my irregular cycles, I tested too early? Or could it be something completely unrelated to my missing period?

Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, Thank you

  1. There is a book you need to read called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility"  I recommend this book a LOT because it helped me figure out why it took me eight year to conceive my son.  I would go a head and let the doc do the ultrasound, just to see if there is a baby.  Within normal limits doesn't mean SQUAT!  For instance, my husbands temperature runs about 3 degrees cooler that the average of 98.6.  So, if he has a temperature of 98.6 that is the equivalent of 101.6 for every body else and he is sick.  But a doctor would look at that and say,"There is nothing wrong, he has a normal temperature"  See what I mean???  If you carted your cycles every day, you would have a much better idea of what was going on and if you had charted them for a few months you would already know if you have PCOS, and then if your doc told you you did when you didn't, you could either tell him he is full of c**p or find a second (more informed) opinion!  This book is about how to chart your cycles for birth control OR pregnancy achievement, and how to READ your charts!!  You should be able to tell what is up with your irregular cycles within four months!  I went to the doctors for YEARS and none of them EVER told me what was wrong!  And it was something so simple!  Good luck!

  2. If you are, in fact, pregnant then the ultrasound will show this.  It will even show whether you have an ovarian cyst or fibroid that may be interfering with proper ovulation or menstruation.

Everyone's body reacts differently to issues going on inside. I actually had ovarian cysts that did not affect my cycles whatsoever. I had a cyst grow to 7 lbs and it did not disrupt my 27 day cycle. I was never late. I did not have irregular bleeding or spotting. I did not experience any pelvic discomfort or pain.

I did have constant nausea, an upset stomach, frequent urination, diarrhea and in the end, backaches.  By the time these symptoms became severe, the damage had been done. The cyst destroyed my left ovary.

I'm glad that your doctor is having an ultrasound done. It is the best thing to do in this case.  And I really hope that you receive happy news.

    Good luck!!!

  3. except for the swollen breast you are just like all other females I have met in my life.

  4. You have completely described ME!!! My lmp was 24th June and after 10 bfn i am still waiting for AF.

I hear your frustration and can completely empathise with your mindset. It IS confusing. It IS frustrating and It IS completely wrong that its happening to us.

I have been diagnosed of PCOS last year but have had regular periods due to being on the pill for so long. I went off it in Feb and have been TTC since. I have had 4 normal 30 day periods then one that was a week late and then one that was 3 wks late and i went to the docs and got blood tests but all they said was 'nup ya not pregnant' and left it at that. I have since got a refferal to a specialist to get some proper answers and hope that they do another ultrasound to make sure all is good and i'm not growing a cyst.. (which would explain the weight gain.. that is weight gain that is not a flattering pregnant belly but more floppy arms and spare tyre)

This cycle has been my longest i'm now over 3wks late.. each day i wake up thinking today is the day.. AF should be here today.. but go  to bed thinking tomorrow it will happen..If i could just get my AF i can start fresh and think happy thoughts and do my opk to see whats going on down there...

I am wondering if you are like me and have babies on the brain and have almost convinced yourself that you are pg hence delaying AF?

Sometimes ppl DO miss a period every now and then but as you said your OPT said that you are ovulating so that doesn't really help you there. With a bit of luck you get to your ultrasound and you find a happy healthy beating sac that you can cuddle in 8mths time.

Most likely an april fools baby and thats why its taken so long to find it.. lol

But to help you emotionally.. go into this scan thinking you AREN'T pregas and when it doesnt show up you wont be upset. (easier said than done i know)... i am almost at the point of buying another test for SH*ts and giggles to see IF i have ovulated later and it just didnt pick it up yet..but i think i'm just wasting my money.. I pray you get your bfp soon and good luck!  come back in a couple of days and let us know how you went.

  5. I can't answer your question, but i sure can understand what you are talking about. To be honest, i thought i was the only one with these type problems. Well, i felt as if i was the only one. I was sitting here wondering am i or am i not pregnant, so i just started typing in my symptoms and i found this. I wonder if this is a sign? I have all the symptoms you have listed above except for the swollen breast. The nausea is every morning and no vomiting, the headaches are crucial, and both my sides hurt and sometimes it hurts so bad that it makes my stomach sore. I have been to the doctors twice and took 2 urine test and one blood test and all three came back negative. So then they called back and wants me to get another opinion from a specialist in charlottesville va. They said my thyroids could be messed up or something like that. For some reason my nails have grown and i have never had long nails before, i wonder why grow now. I dont know if i done got my mind all hyped up about maybe being pregnant, the reason i feel this way. I know the doctors gave me birth control pills and told me not to take them until the results of my third visit with them, which is this monday. Im so confused its pitiful. I just want to know am i or am i not pregnant.

I too have irregular cycles, but for some reason in june it decided to come on after about a year of nothing and then about a couple weeks later i had these symptoms and still have them. Im just tired of thinking and wondering about the situation.

Hopefully when you go back to the doctor you have some good news. I know one question im going to ask my doctor. Sometimes it feels as if something is inside my stomach. I cant put it in words, but you may know what im talking about. And its just in one spot.

    Well good luck to you!
