the unit will shortly be changed but as a quick fix i need to stop the leaking of water

  1. The drain is plugged somewhere.

The drain line should be outside, you may be able to suck the obstruction out with a shop vac.

Or the evaporator drain pan will have to be accessed to clean.

There is no need to replace a unit just because it's leaking water.

    Get it cleaned out.

  2. It has to have a drain some where that is plugged.
