  1. I work in the school district and only have a high school diploma, with a few college credits. The pay is ok but not great. As far as a construction background, look into project managing- if you are a union area, they pay very well. Find out names of general contractors, clark, mccarthy, hunt, etc. and they should have job postings. or google construction and your zip code and some businesses should pop up.

  2. Actually almost every administrative job doesn't require a degree.  I graduated high school, never went to college and spent 10 years in the administrative field just because I had a few basic office skills.  I was making up in the 30k's and that was back in the 80s and 90s.  The key is experience and knoweldge.  As much as you can show on your resume that you've done office stuff, the better.

The admin jobs are everywhere.  Try www.careerbuilder.com and type in administrative assistant, receptionist, secretary, etc. and it will look for you.  Your local newspaper will have plenty too.  That's how I ended up staying in that field so long...........there was always work.

  3. Customer Service/Data Processing/Administration -- I like going to temp agencies.  Usually the employer pays their fees & you only interview with companies that are a good fit for you and who are seriously looking to hire.

  4. You can start as a receptionist and then move up in the company. Some other positions are office clerk, office assistant, HR assistant, and mail clerk. I started as a receptionist making $9 an hour when I was 18. Im now making $15 an hour at the age of 23 and have moved up to HR assistant and I love it!

  5. You should start with Data Entry or Clerical positions.  They will give you office experience and build your skills.  You could also try Customer Service

I worked for staffing companies, so I think they are a great place to start!  BUT you may also want to look for jobs on-line at both craigslist and monster.  You can post resumes on both for free and search for jobs with those titles.  Just be carefull, scammer target entry level people with those "to good to be true" jobs!
