I was wondering......

I am getting a teddy bear hamster and i have done lots and lots of research and i know they need a lot of room. i was gonna make a bin cage, but my mom said tht takes up a lot of room and only do it if i REALLY think it is the best kinda cage for a syrian hamster. So i was wondering should i buy a cage or make a bin cage? I would probably connect two good-sized bins with a pipe/tunnel to give it A LOT of room !

thx! Please no mean or rude answers.....btw i dont wanna sound mean but plz answer quick because i might be getting a hamster as soon as tomorrow so i have to buy the supplies for a bin cage today or tomorrow morning so I have time to make the cage.....thx!

I am not worried about how hard it is to make unless it is REALLY REALLY REALLY hard!

ok so to sum it up..... should i make a bin cage or buy a regular nice cage?

  1. if you buy a regular cage it should be at least a 20Long tank or a cage of equivalent size. it's cheaper to make a bin cage, but if you get a chewer, you're in trouble. i make my rat and mouse cages but if i have a severe chewer, i buy a good martin's cage.

  2. check out petco or petsmart. see if the have any for sale. if not they can give you tips on how to make the cage

have fun with your new pet!

  3. I say you get an aquarium, not one of those bubble plastic cages. I had several hamsters, and they were smart, and nudged off the plastic tubes and attachments and escaped (Resulting in 3 of their deaths.) Aquarium with a wire top is best. :)

  4. Well get something good and roomy and that your teddy would love, like something with a wheel and tubes. You can and may get an aquarium..... but I personally wouldn't recommend it. And most of the time these days hamster cages come pre-assembled. And if not, they usually are not hard. Try this, It's pretty nice http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... Well let me know!!!!!!

  5. I had a Teddy Bear hamster.  They are so sweet.  I had mine in an aquarium before I could get him a good cage and he was fine.  Then, I went to Pets Mart and bought him a big nice cage a couple of days later.  Mine was pretty lazy.  He ran on his wheel every now and then, but he would go up the tubes and just sleep when I got him the fancy one.  Either way I don't think you can go wrong.

  6. I'm assuming this will be fine.  I did something like this for my guinea pig, with the shallow bins that fit under a bed.  Just make sure you put chicken wire or something around all of the sides so he can breathe but not climb out.  Good luck!  :)

  7. because you have done so much research now you know what the  hamster needs now go for what you think you would like if you were him.
