If you're thinking of the Don McClean song "American Pie" -- it's made of great and mysteriously enigmatic lyrics describing (in part) the night Buddy Holly died in a plane crash.

Other American Pies consist of fruits, squash, meringue, custard, etc. -- and crust.

Hello love, my name is Zaria Storm. If memory serves me right, American pie is basically a good apple pie. Some people will of course argue the fact that when the Pilgrims came over, the first pie that they served during Thanksgiving was pumpkin. But I believe that they served a open faced tart baked with pilled apples, sugar, with dough underneath it. I believe that it was baked in a Dutch oven and served warm. Now, I am not a historian, and I could be wrong with some of my facts, but my heart is in the right place....good luck, and blessings to you.

The American pie is not an actual pie, but the American dream of working, marrying, buying a home in a good neighborhood, and the ability to give your kids a good life. The saying about an actual apple pie is something being very American or "American as mom's apple pie". But basically it means living a good life in America, which is a dream for some and a nightmare for others!

all pies that you bake you must prebake the bottom crust

Line your  pie pan, preheat the oven to 350. You can put dried beans (pinto-black-eyed or kidney) on top of the crust so it doesn't bubble up. I poke tiny holes with a fork . You want the crust to be a lite golden brown. remove from oven.

Now the fillings

apple,cherry pumpkin all come in cans and are great products. If you want to be more creative try making apple upside down.

In the pie pan put 2 tbs butter 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 cup of pecan. place in preheated oven until bubbly...top with crust and apples ( fresh or canned) fresh: 4-5 cups of slice deseeded sweet apples 2-3 tbs Cinnamon and 1cup of brown sugar mix together if canned I always add a little Cinnamon. put on top of bottom crust and add top crust. You gotta put vent hole in top crust or get fancy and do lattice or something....place in 350 oven for about 45 min. It is also a good idea to put pie on middle shelve and and drip pan under to  catch any dripping....

To serve flip cooled pie onto serving plate. You should have a parline top cut and serve w/ ice cream..
