ok so my driving test is january 5th and my dad is teaching me...and driving me to the brink of insanity... he'll only let me drive around this park where you can only go 15 mph... but it's just like driving in a big circle... well i've mastered the circle... and my dad won't let me do anything else... "i need to see you progress" he says... you'll never see it if all i do is drive in a circle with no turns, no other cars, and a few people walking by.. now i've refused to go at all because he is getting on my nerves but i really want to drive... what should i do??? 10 PTSSS!!!

  1. keep at it no matter what my kids survived me hanging on the the strap above the window they got theirs you will get yours have you taken drivers education

  2. better than what my dad will do.

  3. your test isn't until january, i'm sure he'll have you doing more stuff by then. just be patient! and if it makes you feel any better, i didn't get my license until i was 18 haha

  4. If your in a city, I don't blame him! lol

Anywho, check out your surrounding area for gravel roads or country driving. It's less nerve breaking for your dad.   This way you'll at least be out on the road.   Yes, there is more to driving than going in a circle.  May be he hasn't seen any progress!!!????

I taught my daughter how to drive a stick shift when she was 9.  My oldest son was 8, my other 2 sons were about 10.   I did this because we lived like 20 miles out of town  and I thought If I had a accident, they needed to be able to drive me to town and a hospital.

Out of 4 kids, I only raised one bad driver!  LOL  He really sucks!!

  5. You should ask him what exactly is this "progress" that he is looking for. Since all hes asking you to do is drive around in a circle it shouldn't be to hard to prove that you could do whatever he is asking for. I'm pretty sure the guy is just worried for his little girl. Compromise, ask him if you can drive around your neighborhood. Also ask your mom or anyone else that may be a little less paranoid than your dad, to drive with you.

  6. why does your dad have to drive you. ask your mom to take you or even maybe like a cuzin or aunt or uncle.............it'll work out. GOOD LUCK!!!

  7. Are there any new neighborhoods being built around your house?  I go to one that has all the roads paved, but they're only begining to build the houses there.  There are no other cars there to worry about, but you can practice left and right turns, and even u-turns in the coldasacks.  Plus, you can go as fast or as slow as you want since it's not like people hang out there or anything.  That could be a comprimise for you and your dad maybe?  Hope this helps!

  8. Talk to him about it. Start off by saying something like, "Dad, I know you care about me and my safety, but I think that I want to try something harder." If he still says no after that, then talk to your mom and ask her to talk to your dad.

    Good luck.
