  1. Here is how I approach any computer work that I do.

1.) Discuss the details beforehand so you and the client knows exactly what is to be done and at stake.

2.) Write a description of work and have them sign off on the work so you both agree what is to be done and for how much.

3.) Do the work correctly and provide the customer with the work (laptop, printer, ect) with the original document so they can give the final approval and sign off that the work is complete.

I can assume that you didn't do what I described.  I would figure up how much time it took you, then talk with the client and ask them what they feel would be a fair price.  If you call BestBuy or some computer store there is another good way to source out how much it would be to do the work.  I typically do that for odd jobs that I don't know how long it will take and then multiply the price by .7 that way you are getting only 70% of what the "professionals" charge.  Unless ... of course you ARE a professional then you should have your prices already defined.

    Best of luck,

    Chad

  2. Not too much... it isnt a complex process

  3. usually i charge by the hour with a 1 hour minimum.  25/hr is not unreasonable IMO.
