  1. Y don't you throw a zoo themed party and have a character come that is an animal like Pluto the dog or something. That way she can kind of get to have a 2 in 1 kind of.

  2. Take her to the zoo.  She's never been before and that's what she wants. Put a character on her cake.

  3. Have a character come on her birthday party. Play pinata with a lot of her favorite candies. I'm sure she will think it's real.

  4. Take her to the zoo...it's not about what the parents want for their kids birthdays it's what the kids want and she wants the zoo.  Is this her day or your day?  If she's not interested in characters next year but wants someone to come over then you can have a simple magic show or have a clown come over...6 year kids still love clowns.  I have 5 kids and their birthday is their special day and the day of the year that we do what they want...regardless of what I want.

  5. Zoo

  6. welllll.. you could even take her to the zoo next year bc when she gets a little older she will know more about animals and it will be more fun for her she will also always remeber being able to go to the zoo for her 6th birthday and have her favorite charactor come for mher 5th! hope i helped

  7. do neither... do a bounce house...itll ware the kids out making it less work  for you..and doing a character next year is fine

  8. If she wants to go to the zoo it's her day and you do what she wants. Hiring characters is a waste of money and totally unnecessary. Keep it simple and you'll both have more fun.  You could always let her bring a couple of her best friends along to the zoo to help celebrate and have cake and icecream afterwards.

  9. I think you are making too big of a deal out of it. If the zoo is what she wants, why not take two or three of her friends to the zoo for the day. That is fine. You do not need a parade in her honor. Just let her have fun.

  10. If she wants to go to the zoo, you should do the zoo thing.  Characters are tricky, some kids get scared and some love it.

  11. dont do anything, theres  nothing to celebrate its just one year closer to death

  12. How about hiring the character to come to the zoo.  That way she has the best of both worlds and you don't have to worry if she will be too old next year.  Good luck!!

  13. how about a charecter like a princess or something this year and th zoo next year

  14. Nothing special shes only five years old, its not like shes gonna remember it when shes 15 or something ...

  15. I would get her a character while shes still young enough to believe its real

  16. Take her to the Zoo, if she was like me, i loved the characters at theme parks till i was probably 9

  17. Since she's wanting to go to the zoo for her birthday then that's what

you should do this year.  I think that next year, she'll like to have a

party with her favorite cartoon character there.  I think that

she believe in her favorite cartoon character until she's a

    p*****n.

  18. I'd go with what she said she'd like to do: go to the zoo. It's her birthday and she's told you how she'd like to spend it. You can ask her, "would you like it if so-and-so showed up at your birthday?" to see if she'd even be interested in a character. I think she might be getting too old to think characters are real, now that she's starting-school-age.

  19. I bet kids can be a handful especially on their birthday.

If she is saying that the characters are not real, them maybe that wouldnt be the best idea. I think taking her to the zoo she will encounter enough weird and crazy characters there. (lol)

Maybe you can call the zoo ahead of time and see if they offer any types birthday packges, maybe you could host her party at the zoo.

I saw this show called "Party Momma's" on Slice T.v and this one lady threw a party for her 7 year old daughter that revolved around hollywood celebrities. She rolled out a red carpet and when her daughters guests arrived they would walk down the red carpet and get their picture taken like at a movie premier.  She made little gift baskets that were actually little purses she had found at the dollar store and filled them with jewlery, lip gloss, hair ties etc...

The kids on the show seemed to think it was great.

Just an idea hope this helps, but i am sure what ever you pick will turn out just fine. :o)

  20. take her to the zoo because its something she wants for her birthday and she hasn't been there, I'm sure next year she will want a character she'll turn 6 not 16.

  21. I think that it is her special day and you should go with what she thinks will make her happy.  There is plenty of time for characters in years to come, and some kids even find them creepy.

  22. you could do both.

take her to the zoo in the morning just you and her.and then have a character come to her party

    later that day;)

  23. Please do what she wants, she will remember it. Help her remember by taking pictures of her in the petting area, feeding the ducks, going thru the butterfly exhibit. Don't forget some of the yucky looks also, like at the snakes, etc. Then do a memory book together.

  24. A 6 year old would love a character. But you can take them places where somebody is already dressed up and for much cheaper. Your daughter will love what you do and you do not have to spend alot of money. Take her and a few friends to the zoo. Or take her to a pizza place with a few friends. That way the mess is left at the pizza hut.

  25. Take her to the zoo,she may never want a character to come to her party.

Then have some cake and ice cream and a few of her friends over. She will be happy as a lark.

  26. No offense, but your daughter is too old to have Barney come over, you know?

You should take her to the zoo considering she's never been there before at all in her life.

    i hope i helped!

  27. Does she like characters?  My five year old is deathly afraid of them.  Keep birthdays simple and stress-free as possible.  Do you remember your 5th birthday?  She probably won't remember much either. Birthday cake, some decorations, and family members baring presents might seem like little to you, but it can mean the world to a little one.  Besides, you have her entire teenage years to go completely over board.

  28. My daughter's turning 5 in October.  They're actually going to be "a whole hand"!! :)  Amazing how time flies.

My daughter loves pony's.  So I'm giving her a pony party.  (It's not as expensive as one would think!)  It's what she wants and it's a stand out birthday (5, 13, 16, 18, 21) so I'm giving her what she wants.

BUT I completely understand your desire to do the character thing while she 'still believes'...  Who knows if they'll still believe next year.  I intentionally took Megan to Walt Disney World with our tax refund this year because I was afraid part of the magic would be gone for her if I waited and she ended up not believing in characters next year.  However, if you get her a character for her birthday for that reason, it isn't a reason you can tell her without revealing they aren't real, right?  So in her mind, it may amount to you just not letting her have a zoo party and that would be a disappointment - not what you want her remembering about her party.  :)

Take her to the zoo, I'd say...and then look online for character visits to your town...they have them more frequently than you'd think, they just don't always advertise it well enough, in my opinion...

Good luck and take good care of your girl...and of yourself! :)

  29. When you were in school did you learn the difference between upper and lower case?

Bring her to the zoo, she'll love it.

She'll still love the character at 6.
