im an african american male who has jet black,fine hair.all of the other african american males say i,I wish i had your hair,you got that ''Good Hair''.WTF is they saying,that blacks have bad hair?.I thinkblacks have unique features and im proud to be black.but why are others saying that

Some blacks are caught up in this image thing where you have to have loose natural curls to be considered to have "good hair" - which doesn't look as nappy as someone with tighter curls (Macy Gray and Angie Stone, for instance). I think it's a subconscious thing (thanks in part to general society) of trying have anything but our natural African features, if you will notice, some blacks try to distance themselves from looking too African or black. Which is why blacks, and society, put more emphasis on blacks who are fair skinned and have loose curls are considered attractive than those who have more African features (dark skin and curlier/coily hair). Who sets the image in today's society for what is considered attractive? The majority race (Caucasians) so they want someone who looks closer to them and that includes blacks with light skin and straight hair or hair with looser curls. Anyone else is considered to be unattractive or have unattractive features. Unfortunately, blacks have been taught the same thing and they don't take pride in themselves or their heritage.
