Okay i am 15 and i am going to mexico in sep. but i dont think i will get the passport in time. But since i am under 16 i can just print the passport application proof online, and it says i need a copy of birth certificate. DOES this mean i can use the ABSTRACT birth certificate? thanks in advance

  1. Hmmm... thought I just answered this question?  Anyway, I think the abstract will work for you because they are taking too long to issue U.S. passports these days.  If you are flying though, you should definitely contact your airline to get the final answer on this.  There are different regulations that cover flying and driving.  If you are driving, you don’t actually need a passport yet – only your birth certificate and photo ID.  I do think the abstract can work in place of a birth certificate but I’m not sure if it will work for the Mexican immigration authorities if you need to get a tourist visa.  Do you know if you will need a tourist visa?  Check into it.  The site I was recommending to you on that other post is http://bajabound.com/before/permits/uspa...  I get a lot of good info from them.  Hope this helps… have fun!
