  1. Mellaril and Haldol (brand name of the generic haloperidol) are both powerful antipsychotics with a distinct sedative effect. Valium is a benzodiazapine typically prescribed for anxiety management - it, too, has a powerful sedating effect. The cogentin is given in conjunction with the anti-psychotics to prevent some very serious side effects.

    The one drug that does not "fit" is the dexedrine - it is a stimulant. However, it is also sometimes used to treat ADD/ADHD.

    The most likely case scenario for a drug cocktail of this sort is that the physicians at the time suspected that you had childhood schizophrenia.

    Cogentin is a drug used for the side effects of antipsychotics

    Dexedrine is a stimulant used mostly for ADHD
