WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY LIVVING CAT?

I HAVE HAD MY 2 CATS 4 18 YEARS NOW AND 1 HAD 2 BE PUT DOWN WHAT CAN I EXPECT 2 HAPPEN 2 THE 1 THAT IS STILL ALIVE

We raised two brothers from the time they were born.  They did everything together.  When they were 12, we had to have one of them euthanized.  The remaining cat became very depressed.  He just lay in a chair -- he wouldn't sleep; he wouldn't eat; he just lay there.  We just talked softly to him, petted him, and tried to soothe him the best we could.  He did get up to use his box, and he started eating and drinking again after a day or so (any longer without eating can be fatal to a cat).  He eventually got back to being his old self again and lived for another three years, but he definitely went through a grieving process.

I'm very sorry for your loss and wish you and your other kitty the best.

18 years is a long time and i imagine from these ages your cats have had the best possible life you have given them,mine are 15,16 and 17 and 5 mths ago my 17 year old was killed by a dog,and last night one of my 15 years olds died of a tumor.she was in my arms when she died..today my other 6 cats are carrying on as though nothing as changed,they still want feeding they still want a love and they haven't noticed that licky is not here no more..I'm the one grieving,so just do what I'm doing and don't change your cats routine,and however long you have him/her now just love um to bits,just like you have been doing.

Sorry about your kitty, that is always hard. If your kitties were close the living one will probably mourn. Try to give him some extra love and attention.

Cats who have been buddies for over a decade would go into mourning over the loss of their friend.  You need to be ultra sensitive to the one that's left, to help them over it.
