WHAT aRE THE CAUSES OF CUTTING DOWN THE RAINFOREST?

the causes and effects of this, what are they?

all of them plz lol i know a few but im doing my geograpohy DME (desision making exorsize) tommorow and i want to know everything about forests and what people are gaining from ripping them down and all the stuff they can give us humans by doing so like medisins and timber etc.

  1. Starving people cut or burn down trees to make more land for farming for food.  If you think that rain forests are more important than people, you would want them to stave to death.


  2. Basicaly the cause is overpopulation and overconsumption. People in developing countries are cutting down forests to increase land available for agriculture. Some do this to grow more food for more impoverished people, others to raise more cattle to satisfy the demand for burgers in rich nations.

    As for the consequences, they're VERY serious--more erosion due to loss of tree roots to hold soil in place, less oxygen production, pollution of streams with more silt from erosion etc.

  3. I think we get gum from a certain tree in the rainforest (the "chic" tree or something).  

    It's mainly money for the cause.  More people=less trees because more products are needed.

    The effect; the extinction and endangerment of many animal species that we barely know a thing about.:/
