  1. The Blu-Ray DVD player takes a regular 480p DVD and upscales it to 1080p. Since it is filling in where the 480p burn didn't, some people say the picture is not quite as good. However, I am like you I cannot tell the difference. But it gives you a warm feeling just to know that you have a 1080p DVD playing through 1080p player on a 1080p TV. You know, the latest greatest state of the art, at least until tomorrow.

  2. Yes that's true,HD means High Defenition.

  3. ok, first off. dvd only goes to 480p, which is NOT high definition. and yes, hd-dvd goes to 1080p, but most players only output it at 1080i, which is just a little different. now, if you stuck your dvd in an hd-dvd or upscaling dvd player (one that hooks up to an hd tv and makes it look better) than the dvd would look a little better

because those players are meant to upscale (or make it look better suited for an hdtv) the dvd. plus, if you are going to buy a hd player, i would get blu-ray because hd-dvd had been dead for a long time. i myself own a hd-dvd player cause i can't afford a blu-ray one, and they don't make movies for hd-dvd players anymore. plus, blu-ray isn't that expensive. players start at $300, and right now, if you buy one at wal-mart, they will give you a $100 gift card.

  4. Yes,

    HD mean high definition.

This doesn't affect you. It only affects someone with a non HD ready television because then it will not be compatible! However for you, it doesn't matter because you can have a non HD dvd with a HD tv and a HD dvd with a HD tv.
