hello there! i'm a filipina.

i'm currently taking up business management in De La Salle University-Canlubang.

I'm not bluffing but this University is the 2nd placer in our country;

And is well-known for catering rich students with brains. (the children of the most influencial and reputable people study here --politics, actors, expatriate managers, etc)

i plan to study in Australia after graduation for my next degree in Accounting.

so, can you name some universities there that teaches Accounting well, and have many filipino students as well?

  1. I'm not sure what you mean by public or private - all univeristies charge here and anyone can attend (providing they have the right marks/academic requirements).

    Some are more expensive than others, some courses are more expensive than others. The government can pay for your degree and then when you are in a job and earning "X" per year, you start paying back the loan (called a HECS debt - Higher Education Contribution Scheme) by paying more taxes than if you didn't do the degree.

    In Sydney, I had quite a few friends go through Macquarie Univiersity for Accounting and all of them got cadetships or jobs with the big names - KPMG, PriceWaterhouseCoopers etc.

    The most "prestigious" in Sydney would probably be the University of Sydney because it's old and expensive.

    But really all the universities are good. Some are geared towards certain things though. UTS is the University of Technology and ACU is the Australian Catholic University (you don't have to be Catholic or anything, it's just the name) specialises in teaching etc.

    In Melbourne, La Trobe and Monash are the 2 big ones you hear about. My husband went to La Trobe but he didn't do accounting, so I don't know what they are like for that.

    As for Filo students, I'd say you'll get Filo people at most universities. Depends more on the course than the uni I suppose. I went to school with lots of Filo and they all went to various uni's in Sydney.

  2. There's no acct in Aussie. Plenty of lay-about boozers, though! Study in Fiji instead!
