WHATS WRONG WITH MY BOAT?

I HAVE A 87 INBOARD BOAT . I TRIED TO IDLE IT UP .. BUT IT GO OFF. HIT A SAND DUNE AND MOTOR WENT OFF... IT START IN NEUTRAL .. BUT THATS IT . ONE GUY TOLD ME ITS THE ADJUSTMENT .. I DID IT .. IT WORKED .. AND NOW THE SAME THING IS GOIN ON AGAIN.. I DISCONNECTED THE CABLES , TIGHTEN BRASS . AND MY PROPELLER ONLI MOVES SOMETIMES . HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE PROPELLER TO GET .? I NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT SIZE . IS THE GEARS ON THE PROPELLER CAUSE I THINK THAT IS WHA I NEED .. WHEN I HAD IT OUT OF WATER .. IT MADE SOME LIKE GROUNDING NOISE BEFORE IT STARTED TO SPIN .. SO IF U CAN PLEASE HELP IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED... TY

  1. If this boat is an inboard/outboard you have probably trashed the lower unit. You may find a used one for a few hundred dollars at a marine salvage yard.
