  2. If someone tries to use your card after its been cancelled, im pretty sure they wouldnt be able to get any money, seeing as the bank have stopped the card.

It would depend on how the money has been taken.  If it is from fraud, you have the same rights as if you had the card.  you would need to contact your provider and speak to one of their fraud advisers.  If the payment you are referring to is a payment that you made prior to cancellation, or a regular monthly payment that you set up to come from your card, you will then still be liable to pay.  Unfortunately there is not a guarantee that payments will be cancelled when the card is no longer in use.  you will need to cancel directly with the whoever is collecting the payment, or ask for a refund.  My advice going forward is never set up regular payments using a card.  Always use direct debits or standing orders as you can cancel these.
