We've had so many excuses and reasons and drawn-out, one-sided investigations and reasons why the nurses and doctors involved should stay where they are and not held accoutable. They (docs & nurses) hold your position with repute - yet you have no honour in saying you're wrong. Go figure.

  1. "responsibility" ---- big word in Trini eh everyone knows how to use it but don't know the meaning.

Public heathcare needs a complete overhaul. These very same doctors step up their game when they are in the private practices.

I have seen vet clinics in better shape that hospital wards.

Needless to say who can seek treatment elsewhere like Cuba or USA do, but what about the Harrilal and Jango where will they go

We always waiting for something to happen before fixing a problem

Will this doctor lose his/her license ? No way -- worst case fired from one RHA -- Hired by another

  2. They act very nonchalant when a mistake results in a death!

My cousin had a head injury and Mt Hope perscribed the wrong medication twice!  Thankfully the Pharmacist was competent to see the huge error - twice!  My aunt took the story to a new station and they said if only he took it and had gotten sick (or possibly died) they would of highlighted the story!!!!

  3. for real!!! the doctor that administered the dose of drugs to 2 the year old child who died, was suspended are the parents of this child supposed to just say ok and move on??

this is blatant negligence, how can a 2 years ond be prescribed drugs in doses that an adult takes...

my heart and prayers goes out to the familes of those who have been faced with this trauma...

  4. well finally someone who's eyes are open to part of the stupidness going on in trinidad i am a certified midwife and in my early 20's and have never worked in any hospital in trinidad because of all the unexplained deaths of babies i will never want something like that on my mind i have a baby of my own and to put myself in those parents shoes who have lost it's impossible they are just called nurses and doctors for show the health care system needs to be taken over by professionals they are shameless to their wrong doings

  5. When we form a mob, storm the hospitals and smash in the faces of all their doctors and nurses.

When we're done, the mob will march onto the RHAs and do the same to the incompetent mangers.

Lastly we will then go the the Medical board and find the dogs in charge. Strip them naked, make them walk through the streets while simultaneously setting the building on fire !!

After this, none of them dare display incompetence and find excuses for it.

If the Cops try to stop us well do the same to them !! They to are incompetent !!

  6. our health sector needs a massive overhaul. We need to replace all the heads of the regional health associations. Also better training. But it is also to do with the mentality of our nurses and doctors as well. They only care about certain people...themselves and their own. don't get me wrong i am not condemning all the health professionals because some do a bloody good job. but the few rotten apples are spoiling the face of our health sector .

our health professionals also need to admit defeat and try their best to not let it happen

but no it seems to me that it happens and no preventative measures are put into place to minimize or expel these cases. it is very sad to see our health sector in a state like this. i guess it will take a major death or crisis (GOD forbid) for them to get a rude and necessary awakening

  7. They are going to have to lose a loved one themselves, or the loved one of some government official is going to have to die first. I would never wish death on anyone, but that's about what it would take. The pathetic thing is that medical and government personnel would rather make the trip to Caracas, New York, Toronto, Miami or whever rather than admit their people to a TT hospital.

  8. This is the one thing that irks me about Trinidad. I have no idea why these doctors and nurses think that they are above the law. My gramps recently was in the hospital when all that dialysis drama was going on and they gave him an "injection" that he wasnt supposed to recieve and it made his health deteriorate rapidly. The injection site formed an abcess and they had to operate on it. Up to now nobody could say who it was that gave the injection.

Not until they get some serious lawsuits and the government puts laws in place that keeps a tight rein on things will they stop holding peoples lives with such disregard. Alot of money should be pumped into the health sector to ensure that we're up to mark with first world countries if its the last thing we do, cuz even if we at the back of the class in other aspects, Health should be number one on the list of things that HAVE to be up to par.
