AMD 64x2 (800MHz DDR2 SDRAM PC2-6400)

Intel Core 2 Duo (667MHz DDR2 SDRAM PC2-5300)

both computers have 2.0 processor speeds

the AMD has a level 2 cache of 1.0MB

the Intel has a level 2 cache of 2.0MB

the Intel has a processor type of Core 2 Duo

the AMD has a processor type of Turion 64x2

the AMD has a HyperTransport Technology working the front side bus

the Intel has a 667MHz bus speed

both hard drive speeds are 5400RPM

the AMD has 4.0MB of memory with 4.0 max

the Intel has 3.0MB of memory with 4.0 max

  1. What do you plan to do?

Either one would be more than enough for moderate gaming or emailing.

  2. intel will be faster. you probably will be able to tweak and overclock the AMD more because more options are usually available in the bios.

  3. Intel Core 2 Duo for sure.

The Intel has a higher level 2 cache and won't heat up as fast a AMD will.

  4. To break it down for you:

    AMD is more quantity

    Intel is more quality

Sure AMD give you 800mhz bus speed and a 64-bit processing. but look at it this way, you will not benefit from 64-bit unless you run applications designed for 64-bit, other wise, 32-bit is the standard for now.

AMD still havent figuered out how to put more than 1mb cache in their processors.

    go for intel.

  5. The AMD based computer in this situation will be slightly faster.  Though you would honestly need a stop watch to notice a diffrence (it will be in milliseconds)

But both computers will run about the same.  The RAM diffrence will make the AMD notebook "feel" snappier due to the fact it can store more on the RAM and there by open your programs faster

And just a bit of Information to fight through the misinformation.

    They are both 64bit CPU's

The RAM on the AMD system runs at 800mHz...not the CPU.  Hypertransport is a fancy way to say that AMD uses intergrated memory controlers on their chipsets which talk to the system memory ALOT faster than Intels outdated fsb...something that intel isnt going to have until nehelem comes out next year

  6. Go for intel. Its far better than AMD's processor...

and there is no heating problem in intel's processor as there is with AMD.
