Recently I bought Sony bravia lcd tv . Now it is having lot of dirt ,dust ,smudges etc. So I read the instruction manual which says to use soft cloth slightly moistened in a mild detergent in case dust, smudges doesnot go away by soft cloth . I use the cloth that come with my glasses as it is very soft with tiny bit of tap water (no detergent as I think that it might remove coating and no specification about which water to use ) and wipe gently the dirty portion but after cleaning it up it leaves a WHITE SMEAR in that area. Is there any kit which will remove the smear or should I go to the shop? Plz help me........Any suggestions are highly appreciated...............

  1. put a band aid on it

  2. A white smear huh? that is very wierd, do you have hard water?

I would most likely take it to the shop, but you might want to try a light detergent, just use a bit of hand soap (nothing harsh like dial).

see if that helps, if it is under warranty then take it in if that does not help.

  3. i bet if you took it to the shop to be cleaned they will clean it the same way you refuse to clean it.just go to the supermarket and look for any products that says it will clean a TV screen.

  4. I own a bravia (though any lcd tv has pretty much the same screen) I use denatured alcohol (very low water content and dries almost residue-free) and either a microfiber cloth or cotton face pads. Try not to touch the screen except when cleaning it. Use a swiffer or the like for dust, too much pressure could damage your screen.
