WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds and Prince George Cougars trade Jesse Forsberg and Colin Jacobs
Seattle Thunderbirds and Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League had a deal and traded their players as it was announced by Russ Farwell on Friday.
General Manager of the Seattle Thunderbirds, Farwell announced that they have sent their forward Colin Jacobs to Prince George Cougars and they will take Jesse Forsberg defenseman Jesse Forsberg, a 5th round pick and one 7th round pick
of Prince George Cougars, that they will pick in 2013 WHL Bantam draft.
Former general manager of Philadelphia Flyers of NHL, owner of Thunderbirds told that he is very happy to have Forsberg in their team as he is an experienced defenseman and a leader. He told that Forsberg is the player that they needed to develop their young
defensemen as he said,
"We are very happy we could add Jesse to our team for this year," said Farwell. "He is an experienced WHL defenseman and a proven leader. He is exactly what we need to allow our young defense to develop."
 
He also told that Jacobs had requested to get a fresh start in a new team so he is happy to accommodate his request and that too without having any shortage of players at his roster as he said,
 
"We were able to accommodate Colin's request to get a fresh start on a new team while also filling a roster need."
 
Colin Jacobs, the American center was always a part of Seattle Thunderbirds since he started his career with them in 2008-2009 season. The 19-year-old right-handed player played just two games in the first season but played a massive total of 73 games in
just his second season, in which he scored 13 goals, 13 assists for total of 26 points.
 
In 2011 NHL draft, Coppell, Texas resident was selected 107th overall in the fourth round by Buffalo Sabres, after he enjoyed his best season with 22 goals, 22 assists and 44 total points in 68 games played with Thunderbirds.
His last season was not very impressive as scored just 19 points in 44 games.
 
On the other hand, Forsberg who will turn 19 on the 13th of the August started playing for Prince George Cougars in 2008 and has played 170 matches since then, scoring 9 goals, 36 assists and 45 total points.
