Question:

WHO IS AFRAID OF SOY?

SOY - GOOD OR BAD? A few days ago, one could read in some BBC headlines, the same BBC that only praised soy a while ago: "Tofu 'may raise risk of dementia'". Then again today: "Soy foods 'reduce sperm numbers'". Is there a new anti-vegan hype under development? Can we call it a neo-antivegan front on the rise? Are MEAT AND DAIRY INDUSTRY AND CATTLE FARMERS fearing a drop in profits, due to the increase in the consumption of soy products as replacements to meat and dairy? Are they quickly reacting and financing pseudo-scientific, contradictory and result-vague "researches" and spreading quacks throughout media, in an effort to frighten vegans, superfood-and-health-eaters and the exponentially-growing global number of neo-vegans? Adding to these rising numbers, there are also the lactose-intolerant and dyspeptic regular meat and dairy eaters who are forcibly shifting everyday to soy products, as a way to escape the same foods which caused them these health problems. And as long as the news headlines stand out more than the inlines, the phonies above will read to most simply as: "soy is bad for health". Here is the debate: Is meat and dairy giant gearing up against the incredible swelling superfood juggernaut, on claims of damage? Come on, I want to hear from everyone.

  4. I don't listen to rubbish. All these people do is try to scare the public.. I eat what  I think is good for me in a healthy way.. No one will tell me what to eat, drink or wear.. This world loves to control and I'm not falling for it.....bd

  5. i fear nothing.

  6. Idk...I love soy, but I have heard that all beans aren't good for your health because in nature they are toxic unless cooked for a long time...same thing with potatoes, ect. Read about the Paleolithic diet.

  7. Well, I heard of all this c**p years ago but I think the general consensus is that it's a bunch of rubbish. The argument is really weak and can be shot down pretty easily. Still though, I know many men that completely dropped soy because of this propaganda so to some extent it did work. If they claimed carrots reduced sperm count and shrank testicles most men would drop the carrots too.

  8. soy is delicious..eveything we consume is dangerous haven't you heard!? : )

  9. me!

  10. I love soy.

I work at starbucks & use soy milk in almost all my drinks.

I would never be "afraid" of soy.

  11. Bob Dylan is afraid of Soy Bomb.

  12. everything in moderation, there is no way soy is bad for you, bro.

  13. Soya isoflavones have been a part of the diet of millions of adults and children in Asia for centuries and are generally regarded as healthy. A recent review came to the conclusion that the current scientific literature, taken as a whole, shows that isoflavones from soya foods are quite safe.

Millions of people have been safely consuming soya foods for thousands of years. Phytoestrogens (plant hormones) are much weaker than the natural oestrogens consumed in dairy products and red meat and may have a normalising effect on hormone levels.

I will continue to enjoy soya, I can't give up soya milk! ;)

  14. Okay, based on what you wrote, it appears as though you are pro-vegan, anti-dairy, and anti-meat. Now most of reports that you cite are exaggerated as the media frequently does. While the reports are exaggerated there is bound to be some truth to it. As everyone already knows there are some sort of problem with all food stuffs. That sad, there are dangers to meat as well, but to take a few reports listing potential dangers of soy products as being an attack by the meat and dairy industry as being ludicrous.

For instance recently there was a report out showing that drinking fruit juices instead of fresh fruit in the morning has no benefits and possible negative impacts in women. By your stance that should be construed as an attack by the fresh fruit industry on the juice industry.

  15. I am not afraid of soy products, but the cholesterol in meat scares the living daylights out of me.

  16. I wouldn't eat soy, it just tastes nasty. I wouldn't care if it was the most healthiest food in the world, there is no way that stuff is going anywhere near my mouth.
