in his prime, it would have to be Paul Scholes. Simply put, the best player to have played for England in the last fifteen years. He had the work rate, vision and poise on the ball to be devastating, could slip a ball through the eye of a needle & he scored goals as well.

Probably Wayne Rooney or Stevie Gerrard, there is'nt really anyone else is there? maybe Frank Lamps had a shout a few years ago but not now.

And Rooney is by no means c**p, but he is well over-rated like Beckham. Rooney's all about power, not skill. Sometimes that works, look at Alan Shearer.
