  1. Marquez for sure, I think he better overall, power, speed, and boxing skills.  That would have been a good one.

  2. I'm a big Marquez fan.  His heart and skill in the true sense of the "sweet science" is un-matched in my mind.  It's true that both Morales and Barrera had distanced themselves from Juan Manuel over the years, with only Barrera giving him a shot toward the end of his career (and losing his title).

Nevertheless, Morales' heart is unquestioned.  Though maybe not as technically sound as Marquez, I believe in his prime he exceeded Marquez with his power and ability to take a punch.  For those reasons, I believe that he would have won were they to have met, each in his prime.

But this is a question that can go either way - particularly because Marquez is a master at utilizing the opponent's aggression against him with his masterful counterpunching.  What a fight that would have been.  I thought it very sportsmanlike, by the way, that both Morales and Barrera were at the Mandalay Bay supporting Marquez in his battle against Pacquiao last month.

  3. Nobody beat Erik Morales in his prime. He fought and beat everyone. Wayne McCullough, Kevin Kelly, In-Jin Chi, Junior Jones and Juan Carlos Ramirez all fell victim to "El Terrible" before his wars with Barrera. He was 41-0 before his first loss to Barrera and even after losing the trilogy he was able to secure a convincing win over Manny Pacquiao but unfortunately the wars over the years caught up with him and he was not the same fighter after that fight.

So to answer your question in his prime Morales would most definitely win convincingly.

  4. A prime Morales would either KO Marquez late, or win a clear cut decision.  Marquez was able to exploit PacMan's lack of techincal skill, and still only fight to a draw and very close loss.  Morales was a far superior boxer to Manny (as shown in his ability to outbox him even late in his career).

Morales would exploit Marquez's inability to avoid big punches, and would not be nearly as available to hit.

Morales by TKO 11 or 12.
