I remember my friend who goes to UC Berkeley singing a song called "Stanford Jonah" which commemorates Cal's Rivalry with Stanford. I know the history of the song, but what I don't know is who is "Stanford Jonah". He or it is mentioned several times in the song. Is he the original Stanford mascot (the indian) or what?

  1. Jonah is a reference to Jonah in the Old Testament of the Bible who lived for three days in belly of a big fish. The song says Stanford's Jonah will be found in the tummy of the golden bear.
